Spa is published biannually
Bath Spa's mission is simple: to become the Oxbridge of the liberal arts. Long recognised as a powerhouse of creativity, in 2019 the University houses a world-leading writing course, an art school with an almost two-hundred-year heritage and some of the country’s best and brightest creatives.
Bath Spa challenged us to create a title that could connect alumni and engage donors – and which would put Bath Spa at the emotional heart of the South West’s dynamic creative and entrepreneurial community. Our approach was to create a magazine for creatives, focused on cutting edge thinking from within the University and the wider South West creative community and practical advice for new graduate entering the creative industries.
The print magazine is bolstered by a fully-supported digital programme, however Kate Love, Director of External Relations and Development say that despite the challenging climate, deciding to retain print was key. "Bath Spa may be small, but we are ambitious – and rigorous. All the research – both for the sector and our own – showed that print magazines have a measurable, substantial impact on our ability to run effective alumni relations and to fundraise." The magazine is now in its third year and has been received to huge acclaim both internally and externally.
